2026 UPDATES
First, we would like to thank ALL of our citizens, friends, clubs, companies and corporations
that have given donations to such an important project and cause for our service area!!!
Without donations we simply could not turn our goals into achievements!
We personally believe this is one of the most important tasks and projects needed in
our service area. We have lost to many tower sites, repeaters, emergency communications, etc.
2026
1. January, continually working on our 1st tower site (Winnebago/Boone back-up site). Tower now
loaded and ready to go as far as antennas and lines. GMRS repeater installed and live.
2. RARA (Rockford Amateur Radio Association) 146.610 installed and live.
3. More trees, branches cut down, further cleanup, electrical, heat installed February.
4. Stateline 444.350 repeater now installed and live (on the air) as of March.
5. ALL paperwork completed for ILIRA for all of our repeater moves and updates, March.
6. Security cameras and further measures being installed, further cleanout of building, March.
7. Finishing up with equipment tuning and programming for 4th repeater 443.450 to go live, March.
8. Obtaining further quotes for new security fence around tower site, March-April.
9. Obtaining quotes for ground tube, driveway access, etc. March-April.
10. GMRS repeater now utilized for Winnebago County SKYWARN for 2026 and
GMRS also installed in local area SKYWARN Command centers along with Amateur.
We are looking at the following expenses needed currently through donations,
1. Approx. $15,000.00-20,000.00 to complete the back-up tower site already operating.
2. $15,000 to $30,000 and/or donation for Property to host our Master tower in storage.
3. Once we have land for the main master tower site, we have to have approx. $50-55,000 to get base in and another $40,00.00 to finish construction of the Master tower.
4. We will need further repeaters, antennas, hardlines, and duplexers as well for both sites of approx. $30,000.00..
As we all can see, by our goals and number of sites for North Central and Northwestern
IL in our initial plan, we are looking at approx. $500,000.00+ project
here to complete all.
