Stateline Amateur Radio Services updates for 2024 and 2025.

First, we would like to thank ALL of our corporations, companies, citizens, and friends that have
come forward with donations for such an important project and cause for all in our service area!!!
Without donations we simply could not turn these critical goals into achievements!

 

We believe this is one of the most important projects needed in our service area.

We have lost to many tower sites, repeaters, emergency communications etc.​​

2024

1. We formed Stateline Amateur Radio Services in February 2024.

​2. We filed all paperwork for our EIN and with the State of Illinois for NON-PROFIT. 

​3. Hired a company and started all IRS 501(c)(3) NON-PROFIT paperwork.

4. August-September 2024, received our 501(c)(3) status and changes to IL State paperwork .

5. Purchased first 195 ft commercial freestanding tower system for Winnebago
County which is designed to hold approx. 7 to 9 repeater systems.

4. Started purchasing a few repeaters and further initial equipment.

5. Set up a temporary GMRS repeater system for the Rockford area PUBLIC.

General Mobile Radio Service GMRS. This is a service that allows the PUBLIC to
simply apply for a GMRS license with the FCC (Federal Communications Commission),
NO testing, pay the $35 dollar fee online, the license is good for the entire
immediate family household and a 10-year period before renewal.

6. GMRS service will be fully implemented into the new Winnebago County
SKYWARN coming soon. This we felt was crucial in allowing comms and training
with any and all interested in our service area with the idea of adding GMRS to
the SKYWARN command centers coming. We also feel this could help our public
immensely in further protection for their children, families, and friends in a crucial
further form of communication other than cell phones in case of cellular failures.

7. Started working with Winnebago County committees and the Board of Directors
over a property to house our 1st commercial tower for Winnebago County.

8. Designed and built website and a GMRS Facebook page for GMRS in our service area.

9. All Winnebago County committee meetings going well and thus far 100% on
board with our project for a plot of land for our 200 foot commercial tower already
purchased. We hope to be able to finalize over 2025 and start installation of our
Master Site for Winnebago County. Then we will start on the back-up Site #2 for
Winnebago County, then next to Stephenson County for site #3.

2025

​

1. Continue working with Winnebago County over donation for land for our first HD freestand tower in storage.

​2. Found and looking at a 2nd tower site (back-up site for Winnebago County).

​3. We received a donation from a very prominent home town Rockford company named

ROCKFORD MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY.

We sincerely thank them for their $500.00 cash donation.

​4. Temporary local area GMRS repeater up and running. Will be moved to first site to go live.

​5. We are thankful to have received many donations from private citizens and RARA members.

​6. Dealing on our 1st tower site with a150 ft freestanding tower already on site March 2025.

​7. Closed on our first tower/tower site and received paperwork first week August 2025.

​8. August/September/October 2025, clean-up on 1st tower site (back-up site).

​9. Received a large donation of $3100.00 total from Jordan Kittinger and family, October.

​10. Tower company "Tower Works" November/December 2025 strip and reload tower/tower site.

​11. Received a $1500.00 donation from BANDT COMMUNICATIONS, INC of Beloit, WI, December.

​12. December 2025, getting ready to get GMRS repeater moved to our first tower site

and live on the air from temporary site as well as other repeaters ready to go live.
